The debate over military intervention in the Middle East has taken an explosive turn. While the Donald Trump administration requests massive funding—estimated at $2 billion a day—to “reopen” the Strait of Hormuz, key figures in the Senate have launched a biting critique questioning the entire logic of the conflict.
“The Strait of Hormuz was already open before you started this war,” was the blunt reminder the White House received. Critics allege that Donald Trump’s actions have created a global crisis out of nothing, skyrocketing oil prices and endangering fertilizer supplies just when the world needed stability most. While the Pentagon asks for more budget to “secure” the area, Congress questions if the true cost of war is trying to solve a problem the administration itself caused.
